Residential projects should have an identity born out of their local context and site history. Identifying what anchors a design to its site and nowhere else is always our starting point at Dmba. Getting that narrative right is what allows us to guide the Planners, local community, stakeholders, and the design team with a clear sense of direction.
In the case of Kennington lane, we were able to tap into the history of Royal Doulton and its production within the borough, identifying the key design elements and proposing a bespoke tile design to adorn sections of the building.
The multi layered façade offers a richness of detail with framed amenity spaces in the form of roof terraces, that are integrated within the façade of the building. Glazed street frontage cycle stores place the encouragement of cycling at the centre of the building, with remote access and a cycle repair workshop at ground level.
We always love talking about architecture and what makes it great.
