Seaforth Place
Westminster

This incredibly small site called for a colourful and vibrant response. Described by a Westminster Ward Councillor as ‘A piece of public art’ we could not be more thrilled with the result.

Seaforth place will transform a neglected pocket of Victoria into a creative workspace, with London’s first tube lid pockets park.

Texture and materials play a big part in what we do at dmba. They can tell a story, evoke a memory and simply allow the public to connect with a building.

The more ways we find to increase connections with our projects, the more successfully the building knits into it surroundings and feels like it’s always been there.

Residential projects should have an identity born out of their local context. What anchors a design to its site and nowhere else is always our starting point.

Getting the narrative right allows us to guide both the Planners, Community, Stakeholders and Design Team, with a clear direction.

Getting the most out of small spaces is often what we do best, through pared-back materials, focused detailing and contemporary elegance.

Bold interventions. When dealing with an existing building, vertical extensions and intervention at the ground floor have to be both sympathetic and bold.

We have decades of experience of working within the tight streets of Westminster and the surrounding boroughs, allowing us to get this balance right.

Space to breathe. Residential amenity space not only improves the residents’ quality of life but when done well it increases the value of a project.

We integrate amenity space into the structure of the building, doing away with desolate roof terraces for good.

Standard components to produce exceptional results. Often the simplest approach is the best, we utilise standard façade components to create rich elevations full of depth and life.

The quietest addition can hold the most value. From single pavilion rooftop extensions, to complete reconfigurations, we understand the complex route to achieve planning consent.

Our experience has been built up over the years through multiple projects with a full success rate and long-established relationships with planning and design officers.
